BEACHPEOPLE MAKES a ‘HAS-BEEN’ PERSONAL
BEACHPEOPLE, the solo project of former AnnenMayKantereit bassist
Malte Huck, proudly announces his debut album 'has-been'. The album
'has-been' is out today via V2 Records. This deeply personal work marks
a new chapter in Huck's musical journey, four years after his departure
from the successful German band.
‘The title 'has-been' plays with self-irony and reflects on the idea of letting go
and starting afresh. The album tells a story of transformation and farewell. It is
a musical archive of Huck's past years: his decision to leave
AnnenMayKantereit, his personal growth, and the processing of loss. The
album also includes a tribute to his good friend and companion Julian (alias
Lord Folter), who passed away in 2023.
Following the highly praised 2022 EP "i'll be gone for a little while," which
already gave a glimpse of his new musical direction, Huck began recording
'has-been' in late 2023 at Wolfgangsee in Austria. The result is an intimate
album of just under 36 minutes, in which he bids farewell to old versions of
himself, childhood memories, dependencies, and ideas about what life should
be. Earlier, the single "MY HEART BREAKS" was released. In this song, a car
journey symbolizes the protagonist's inner journey. The protagonist steps out
of the car, once driven by his parents, and begins to walk his own path. The
song is about loss, nostalgia, and the challenges of growing up – including the
temptations of escape through addiction.
Malte Huck about 'has-been': "This album is a farewell to old patterns and an
invitation to make space for the unknown. It feels like a journey back to
myself. I hope it inspires others to do the same." With 'has-been,'
BEACHPEOPLE invites listeners on an emotional journey full of depth and
introspection. Fans can listen to an album starting today that not only tells
Huck's story, but also touches on universal themes of growth, loss, and
renewal.
