Douwe Bob is searching for his happiness with New Single ‘Funny’
A tribute to freedom, small joys, and the present moment
After a successful and completely sold-out theater tour, Douwe Bob returns with a brand-new single. On April 25, he released Funny, a cheerful and optimistic track that perfectly continues the pop sound of his 2023 studio album Where Did All The Cool Kids Go? Douwe Bob is an artist who effortlessly moves between genres, with a repertoire that spans Americana, folk, and pop. On Funny, he shows his lightest, most playful side.
The single is a tribute to the everyday moments that add color to life: sunlight on your face, a bird singing, a sudden feeling of freedom. “Funny is about that small, magical moment when everything feels right,” Douwe Bob explains. “The days can fly by in a blur, but sometimes—suddenly—everything seems to stop, and you realize: this is it. This is living.”
In the lyrics of Funny, Douwe Bob describes the flow of an ordinary workweek—from Monday mornings in the car to Tuesday traffic jams—leading up to a moment of clarity:
“Funny, now that the sun is shining down on my face / I can feel the world turn into a brighter place.”
The single drops just before the grand finale of his This World Is Our Home tour. On May 16, Douwe Bob will perform at AFAS Live, where he will close this successful chapter in style. This spring, he also appears as a judge on the TV show Talent Unplugged (SBS6), where he mentors young musical talents. Additionally, Funny will follow up the hit travel campaign by D-Reizen, which featured This World Is Our Home.
