Escape the Chaos is Morcheeba’s 11th studio album and follows their 2021 release Blackest Blue. This new album effortlessly shows why they are trip-hop royalty.

“We Live and Die” will also be released as their first ever 7” on Record Store Day, April 12th, to celebrate their 30 year anniversary. “For me, ‘We Live and Die’ is about my duration in the band and the music world and life in general,” Skye says of the track. “The lines become blurred after all this time. In a way, it’s a homage to the thirty years of being in Morcheeba which is 60% of my existence.”

Family is key to their longevity. At an early album session in Dublin, Ross and Skye were joined by her son Jaega on drums and her husband Steve Gordon on bass, both mainstays of their live band. “It felt more like the old days of recording when we laid down those tracks,” says Ross. “We were actually in a room playing the songs together.

Album highlight “elephant Clouds” emerged from those sessions as did the tough, beat driven ‘Bleeding Out’. Adding to the family affair was Ross’ wife, French singer Amanda Zamolo, who contributed lyrics and vocals on the track Pareidolia having previously worked with the band on the albums “Deep Dive” and “Blaze Away”. Other guest contributions include rapper Oscar #Worldpeace on the riveting Peace of Me, a succinct plea to fix the world’s obsession with conflict.

Formed in London in 1995 the legendary band have extensively toured the globe, sold over 10 million albums worldwide and left their mark as one of the most influential acts of recent times. Releasing their acclaimed debut album Who Can You Trust? in 1996, the band have gone on to release 10 studio albums, including 1998’s platinum selling Big Calm, produced an album for Talking Heads’ David Byrne and produced soundtracks for Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh. In their 30th year Morcheeba are as relevant as ever and are set to mark the celebration in style.
