Cristóvam and Boy & Bear Join Forces on New Album
On October 10, Portuguese singer-songwriter Cristóvam will release his long-awaited third studio album Desert of Fools via V2 Records. Following the success of his previous albums, Hopes & Dreams (2018) and Songs on a Wire (2022), Cristóvam once again showcases his masterful storytelling and warm, captivating melodies. This time, his musical journey took him to Australia, where he collaborated with producer Tim Hart (Boy & Bear) on ten new tracks that bring a fresh breeze to his repertoire.
One of the highlights of the album is the single Fever, a hypnotic track that feels like a dream you almost remember. The song balances between struggle and redemption, exploring the fine line between "chaos and hope." For this track, Cristóvam teamed up with the Australian indie-folk band Boy & Bear, resulting in a unique, atmospheric sound.
The accompanying music video for Fever reflects the duality that defines the album: a fusion of the vast landscapes of the Azores and the rugged beauty of Australia. In the video, directed by Diogo Rola, Cristóvam awakens in a surreal setting where reality and illusion blend. The distance between him and Boy & Bear is visually translated through mysterious elements such as old televisions and a symbolic quest for connection.
Cristóvam gained international recognition with Andrà Tutto Bene, a song that became a symbol of hope during the pandemic. Since then, he has secured his place in the European music scene, sharing the stage with artists like Stu Larsen and Tim Hart. His distinctive songwriting has earned him prestigious awards, including first place in the International Songwriting Competition and two IPMA Awards.
With Desert of Fools, Cristóvam takes the next step in his musical evolution. This album offers not only a renewed sound but also an in-depth, personal look into the soul of an artist who continually moves between two worlds.
